Fear mongers

The glass is broken to pieces. Terrified by my encounter, she rushes as if her rear was on fire. "HELP! There he is! Sumit please wake up fast!" Divya's cries are falling on deaf ears and are drowned in boisterous snoring. My prying eyes look at the terror in her eyes. How pretty she is, only if she doesn't threaten me with that killer weapon! Slowly, gradually, inch by inch I creep towards her. The beads of perspiration on her forehead, freeze on seeing me make the first move. "SUMMMMIIIIT!!!" She escapes out of my territory with quivering shrills. There is again eternal darkness.

"I tell you Sumit, if you don't call the pest control today, I'm off to my mom's place." Divya is threatening Sumit with dire consequences but my darling why are you banging the pots and pans. Not letting me catch a wink!

"Yes sweetie, I have called the agency but they say there is not enough labour." Sumit is my real sweetheart. How he keeps stashing his forgetfulness under the carpet! Ohh, carpet with that I remember I should venture out under that new kashmiri carpet tonight. Anne and her friends have some Night Out today.

"MOMMY!! Red ants in the living room." Now this son of the Sharma's, is no less. Sahil is shouting as if he has seen dinosaurs. What is it with the all the hallabol, Anne and troops must be preparing for today's party. Whatever, I must doze off. The late nights are taking a toll on my health.

"Carefully, push it here. That's where I see that ugly, crawling pest! Kill it. Kill it, right away!" PEST, wow! Is that what she is calling me? It seems to be some alluring word. Isn't it what she calls Sumit too, turning scarlet red in her cheeks and eyes? I must not wile like this. There comes the nozzle. Aaanchooo... Sniff sniff... These sprays just give me a running nose. Nevertheless, I will remain here for few days, letting Divya believe that she has successfully defeated me. Hahahaha.... Uhhooo... There I go into a slumber but not before... Aaaaa... Aaaachoo..letting out this catastrophic sneeze.

Anne is the best host, I have met till now. How meticulously she plans the treats! Undefeated by time and tide she just works around the clock to pick tiny tit bits scattered in the kitchen. Her troops too are awesome workers, co-ordinating and teaming up with tremendous zeal. Disciplined chaps, I must say they keep carting food for the bad weather. Burb! I overate last night. The carpet seems to be very cosy, let me doze off here for a while.

"Sahil!!! There he is! Under the carpet! Bring papa's paragon." OMG!! In the  daylight I just can't hide! Foolish me, run!! Oh my, oh my,  this son of Sharma's runs like a Marathoner. Wait. Wait you son of P. T. Usha. Wait. Have mercy. Under the table, rush there you moron cockroach! Too far... No. No. There comes the paragon flying in the air. SMACK! Just missed my antennas. Let me breath or forget, just run. Enough time to breath later. This knook seems perfect let me slide in. Phew, it was a scary escape. I need to be alert. There comes that four eyed little monster with the paragon still in his hands. He peeps through the small hole. Our eyes meet for the first time. The brownish tinge in his iris comes straight from Divya. Blink. Blink. Blankly, we stare at each other. Me having no space to move. He lacking space to manoeuvre the paragon. After a good ten minutes of appreciating my wavering antenna, he gives up. There he goes defeated and tired, by towards run. Close to the finish line, he accepted a clean defeat!

"Mommy, you know these cockroaches have existed since the carboniferous period. They have tough exoskeletons which protects their physique. Extremes of temperatures and they survive gladly. Difficult to defeat them." Sahil's science project is killing Divya. The facts are making her struggle to survive with me, an arduous task.

Ohh, finally the real pest has called the Pest Control. No offence guys. You do your duties, I perform mine. Spray, kill, demolish us. But we are the undefeated species ruling the mankind. When will the good old wings come to rescue? Here I go out of the open window into the fresh air.

Divya Darling, I will come back. Come back when you are lazy to clean the kitchen and invite me and Anne with strewn crumbes of bread and roti. I will once again conquer your sink and shower with my progeny making you run helter-skelter.

For now let me search another prey to petrify her till she accepts defeat and loves me for my undying spirit.
